Yoni Steam Guide
With Good Intentions Yoni Steam Botanicals
Our Yoni Steam Botanicals are carefully blended using selected dried herbs, flowers and spices chosen for their aroma, beauty, traditional symbolism and ritual quality.
Each blend is created with feminine self-care in mind, drawing on botanicals that may be associated with warmth, softness, sensuality, grounding, release, reflection and body connection.
Some blends may feel warm, earthy and spiced, while others may feel lighter, fresher, floral or citrus-inspired.
This guide is here to help you explore yoni steaming with curiosity, care and confidence . . . while also understanding how to use the botanicals safely and responsibly.
What Is Yoni Steaming?
Yoni steaming, also known as vaginal steaming, v-steaming or pelvic steaming, is a personal wellness and ritual practice where selected botanicals are steeped in hot water, allowing warm herbal steam to rise externally around the vulva and pelvic area.
Practices using warmth, steam and botanicals have appeared in different cultural, traditional and postpartum wellness settings around the world, with meanings and methods varying between communities and individual women.
At With Good Intentions, we offer yoni steam botanicals as a personal ritual product only. We do not present it as a medical treatment, internal cleanse or guaranteed outcome.
An Invitation to Slow Down and Reconnect
Many women move through life carrying stress, responsibility, body shame, emotional heaviness or disconnection from their intimate self.
Yoni steaming may offer a private moment to pause, soften and come back to your body in a gentle way.
The warmth, steam, aroma and stillness can create space for rest, sensuality, reflection or simply being present with yourself. There is nothing to force, fix or perform.
You may choose to use your steam as part of a self-care ritual, a quiet evening practice, a moment of feminine reconnection, or simply because you are curious to try something new.
Allow yourself around 30–45 minutes for the full ritual, including preparation, steaming, resting and tidy-up. The steaming itself may last around 20–30 minutes, depending on your comfort and how long the steam remains warm and gentle.
Why Women May Feel Drawn to Yoni Steaming
Some women are curious about the ritual. Some are drawn to the warmth and aroma of the botanicals. Others may be seeking a quiet moment away from daily responsibilities, where they can sit, breathe and reconnect with themselves.
For some women, yoni steaming may feel like a personal invitation to soften the relationship they have with their body, their sensuality, their femininity or their intimate self.
It does not need to be complicated or overly spiritual. It may simply be a private act of care, curiosity and presence.
What Women May Experience
Every woman’s experience with yoni steaming will be different.
Some women may experience yoni steaming as warm, relaxing, sensual, grounding, nurturing or emotionally releasing. Some may feel more connected to their feminine self, their body or their intimate space. Others may simply enjoy the aroma, the warmth and the quiet time.
Yoni steaming is not about curing, treating or fixing the body. It is about creating a respectful moment of warmth, care and connection . . . and allowing your body to respond in its own way.
About Our Yoni Steam Botanical Blends
At With Good Intentions, each yoni steam blend is created with care, intention and attention to the ingredients being used.
Some blends may feel warm, earthy and grounding, with woody notes and gentle spice tones such as cinnamon, allspice, star anise and orange. Other blends may feel lighter, fresher or more uplifting, with zesty citrus notes, lemon, lavender and softer floral aromas.
We are particular about where our botanicals are sourced and choose high-quality, food-grade dried herbs, flowers and spices for their freshness, aroma, cleanliness and quality.
Although our yoni steam botanicals are not for eating or internal use, choosing quality botanicals helps create a more aromatic and considered steaming experience.
Choose Your Steaming Method
Toilet Bowl Method
This method is often the most comfortable option because it allows you to sit normally, steam in the privacy of the bathroom, and avoid squatting or kneeling.
Use a clean, heat-safe bowl such as a stainless steel mixing bowl, ceramic bowl or clay bowl. For hygiene, we recommend keeping this bowl specifically for yoni steaming only.
Choose a bowl that fits securely inside the toilet opening or rests safely on the inner rim of your toilet bowl. Every toilet is slightly different, so take the time to find a bowl that feels stable and suitable for your own toilet setup.
Once the bowl is safely positioned, add approximately ½ to 1 cup of dried yoni steam botanicals into the bowl.
Carefully pour boiling water over the botanicals, filling the bowl to approximately ½ to ¾ full. As a guide, if your bowl holds around 4 litres, you may add approximately 2 litres of boiling water. The exact amount will depend on the size of your bowl.
Allow the botanicals to steep and the water to cool slightly before sitting.
Test the temperature by carefully touching the inner side of your wrist into the infused water, similar to how you would test bath water for a baby. The water and steam should feel warm and comfortable, never hot or burning.
Once the steam feels safe and comfortable, sit on the toilet seat as you normally would, allowing the warm steam to rise gently around the vulva and pelvic area.
This method may feel more comfortable for women who prefer sitting rather than squatting, or for women who have sensitive knees, hips or lower back discomfort. It also allows you to steam in the privacy of the bathroom and makes clean-up simple.
Once finished, allow the water and bowl to cool completely before removing the bowl. Carefully dispose of the used botanicals.
Squatting or Kneeling Method
Some women prefer to place a heat-safe bowl securely on the floor, then squat, kneel or carefully position themselves over the bowl.
Use a clean, heat-safe bowl that is stable and wide enough to safely hold the infused water and botanicals.
Place the bowl securely on the floor in a private, comfortable space.
Add approximately ½ to 1 cup of dried yoni steam botanicals into the bowl.
Carefully pour boiling water over the botanicals, filling the bowl to approximately ½ to ¾ full. Do not overfill, as you need to avoid spills while positioning yourself over the steam.
Allow the botanicals to steep and the water to cool slightly before sitting.
Test the temperature by carefully touching the inner side of your wrist into the infused water, similar to how you would test bath water for a baby. The water and steam should feel warm and comfortable, never hot or burning.
Once the steam feels safe and comfortable, position yourself carefully over the bowl so the warm steam rises externally around the vulva and pelvic area.
You may like to wrap yourself in a robe, towel or blanket to help hold in the warmth and create a more private, comforting space.
This method may feel more ritual-like and may suit women who prefer to steam outdoors, in a private space, or as part of a more intentional self-care practice.
Please make sure your bowl is stable, your body is supported, and you feel safe and comfortable throughout the ritual.
Once finished, allow the water and bowl to cool completely before moving the bowl. Carefully dispose of the used botanicals.
After Your Yoni Steam Ritual
When your steaming ritual is complete, take your time before standing or moving around.
Gently towel dry yourself if needed, or take a warm shower if that feels more comfortable for your body.
Allow the steam water, bowl and botanicals to cool completely before handling. Once cooled, dispose of the used botanicals, then wash and dry your bowl thoroughly before storing it away for next time.
After your tidy-up is complete, you may like to slip into comfortable clothing or pyjamas, rest quietly, journal, meditate, or simply move gently back into your day or evening.
Stay well hydrated during and after your steaming session. Keep water nearby and listen to your body as you settle after the ritual.
Using Yoni Botanicals for Incense Burning
If your Yoni Steam Botanicals are dry, unused and free from moisture or mould, you may choose to repurpose them as loose botanical incense.
This can be a beautiful way to enjoy the aroma of the herbs, flowers, botanicals and spices as part of a space-clearing, meditation, prayer, reflection or personal ritual practice.
If your yoni steam botanicals are past their expiry date, do not use them for steaming. However, if the botanicals are still completely dry, clean and free from moisture or mould, you may choose to repurpose them as smudging herbs instead.
To burn your botanicals, place a small amount onto a lit charcoal incense block inside a heat-safe vessel.

Storing Your Yoni Botanicals
Unopened Pouches
Store new, sealed pouches of Yoni Steam Botanicals in a cool, dry place, away from direct light, heat & moisture
Once Opened
When you are ready to steam, carefully tear or snip open the top sealed section of the pouch.
Use dry hands to gently open the zip lock seal.
Use a dry spoon or clean dry tongs to scoop out your desired amount of botanicals. Avoid using wet hands or damp utensils, as moisture can affect the freshness of the dried botanicals.
After opening, tightly reseal the zip lock pouch with dry hands and store the remaining botanicals in the fridge or freezer until your next steam.
For maximum freshness after opening, store the remaining dried botanicals:
In the fridge: up to 3 months
In the freezer: up to 12 months
Important Storage Notes
The botanicals must remain completely dry. If moisture enters the pouch, the botanicals may spoil or develop mould.
Do not use botanicals that appear damp, mouldy, discoloured, stale, or have an unusual odour.
Do not return used or wet botanicals to the pouch. Once botanicals have been steeped in water, they should be discarded after use.
When Not to Steam
Yoni steaming may not be suitable for every woman or every stage of life.
Please do not yoni steam if you are:
Pregnant, or think you may be pregnant
Our blends may contain botanicals such as mugwort and sage, which are not recommended during pregnancy. While we are not claiming that yoni steaming causes contractions or affects the cervix, there is not enough safety evidence to recommend herbal steaming during pregnancy.
Pregnancy is a time for extra care. Please speak with a qualified healthcare professional before using any heat, steam or herbal practice around the vulva, pelvis or reproductive area.
Experiencing vaginal irritation, burning, itching, infection or unusual discharge
Experiencing unusual bleeding or pelvic pain
Recovering from birth, miscarriage, surgery or a medical procedure, unless cleared by a qualified healthcare professional
Using a new or unhealed genital piercing
Feeling unwell, dizzy, faint, overheated or physically uncomfortable
Sensitive or allergic to any of the botanicals in the blend
Trying to conceive, undergoing fertility treatment, using an IUD, managing a reproductive health condition, or unsure whether yoni steaming is right for your body
Always stop immediately if your body feels uncomfortable, irritated, too warm, light-headed or if something does not feel right.
